Camp Samatou

17th-19th November, 2017

1 hour out of Melbourne

Emily from Hands Heart & Feet is so excited to be teaching at Camp Samatou in Melbourne again this year.

This is an AMAZING camp. Run by the awesome Mitzi McRae and Simon Lewis from Melbourne Djembe, the line-up of teachers looks to be just as fabulous as ever - including Naby Bangoura from USA & Mohamed Bangoura from everywhere.
Held at the same beautiful venue as last year, 1 hr from Melb, the drum teachers and dance teachers on this camp are truly world class. We warmly encourage anyone and everyone from our Blue Mountains community to make a road trip / plane escapade of it!

The Give Back Boogie

23rd September

Kindelhill School, Wentworth Falls

Workshops and performances to raise funds for musicians in Guinea, West Africa.

2:30pm - 4pm: Drum Workshop with Sibo Bangoura from Guinea, West Africa
4pm - 5:30pm: Dun Dun Dance Workshop with Sibo Bangoura
6pm: Performance: Hands Heart & Feet, Sibo Bangoura, Miriam Lieberman, Food by Daz, a story by John and Emily & more.

Everyone attending Hands Heart & Feet classes this term is welcome to perform with us at this event.

Workshops $20 each, Performance $20, or $50 for the full day.
Volunteer options and family rates available.

What all funds raised will go towards:
When one of our teachers, Sibo Bangoura, was visiting his home in Guinea recently, he went along to some local rehearsals and found that the musicians had to take it in turns to play drums, because there are more musicians than instruments. Sibo would like to raise funds to buy some drums for these musicians.

Sibo has asked if Hands Heart & Feet would like to be a part of that fundraiser, and the answer is yes! This is a fantastic way to give back to a culture that has deeply enriched the lives of so many of us who participate in drum & dance classes here in Australia. Any and all involvement would be much appreciated.

All welcome.
